Cross-Ties is no longer active, for more information contact ccchamber@yahoo.com
The Cross-Ties project was started five years ago as a way of documenting and preserving local stories of past generations who were born and raised in Calhoun County. The Cross-Ties project is now guided by local leadership with a diverse representation from religious, educational, ethnic, business, and political organizations. The colorful stories of yesteryear are presented by a local cast of student and adult actors, musicians, and support personnel. Cross-Ties was performed on the grounds of the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown, Florida. The last performance was held on the wrap-around front porch of the old Wells Cabin that was moved to the park and restored as part of the Pioneer Settlement. However, Cross-Ties is much more than an on-stage performance several nights a year. The enactment of local folk tales provide a window into our shared pasts and offer a way to showcase the best of our community, past and present. Video/CD Live Oak Production Group has produced an interactive CD which includes scenes from the play, interviews with various individuals from Calhoun County, and black and white photos from as late as 1890! Check back soon to buy the video and CD. |
